About Sanford & Kid

Sanford & Kid sells period-cut reproduction dresses for women. Every dress here follows a silhouette from the forties through the eighties, most of them fifties, cut to modern sizing in modern cloth. None of it is a period original, and we never describe it as one: a dress tagged 1950s follows a fifties line and was not manufactured in that decade.

We say that on every product page, because the difference matters. A genuine mid-century garment belongs to a particular body from a particular year, and wearing one is an act of preservation. A reproduction is a shape you can put on, in a size that exists today, and treat as clothing.

The shop is organised by what the dress is rather than by what it costs: lace, floral, occasion, and the plain ones for a weekday. Sizes run S through XL on every dress, XXL on most, and XS or XXXL on a few. Each product page names the colour, the cloth and the era the cut follows, and those three facts come from the garment itself rather than from a mood board.

Measurements

Every garment is measured by hand, so allow 1–2 cm of variance (1 cm = 0.39 in). If you are unsure which size to take, write to us before you order.
