Size guide

These are the body measurements each size is cut for — not the flat measurements of the garment itself.

Not every dress runs the full range. Each product page lists the sizes actually available for that piece, and only those appear in the size menu.

Two things vintage cuts do differently

The waist sits higher and tighter

Fifties silhouettes take the waist in sharply and place it above the natural waistline. If your waist measurement falls between two sizes, take the larger — a swing skirt hides a loose waist far better than a fitted bodice hides a tight one.

Length is cut for heels

Full-length and hollow-to-floor styles are drafted with roughly 5 cm of extra length so the hem clears a heel. Worn flat, they will sit longer than you expect.

How to measure yourself

  • Bust — around the fullest part, tape level under the arms, wearing the bra you intend to wear with the dress.
  • Waist — the narrowest point, usually just above the navel. Do not pull the tape tight.
  • Hip — around the fullest part, feet together.

Measure over underwear rather than over clothes, and keep the tape level all the way round. One centimetre is 0.39 inches.

Ring sizes

Ring listings carry the US size in the title — a ring ending "7.50" is a US 7½. We cannot resize plated pieces, so please check against a ring you already wear before ordering.

When in doubt, ask

Email Support@sanfordkid.com naming the piece and your measurements, or call (413) 663-7489 while the shop is open. Somebody will take that dress off the rail, measure it flat, and tell you what they find. It costs nothing and it saves a return.
